My home studio! This is where Pretty Techie + all the products were dreamed up & designed. Located in the heart of downtown San Francisco, my street overlooks the cable-car lines and all. I’m super inspired by the natural light and the minimalism of my space.
- Minimalist style
- Soft neutrals; palette of white, grey, beige
- Focus on simple textures and a few signature finds
- Sophisticated comfort
- Hardwood floors
- High ceilings
- And most importantly, lots of natural light
The apartment definitely inspired me to keep things simple. I knew the bed would go right under that big bay window the second I walked in. The interior details of my space are inherently minimalist but still charming and full of character.
My minimalist style is grounded in neutrals and topped off with that quintessential San Francisco charm.
I gravitate towards neutrals, white, and black. I like to add personality through textures. Mixed metals and materials like clay, aluminum, and black metal spin a masculine vibe that I love. I love a mix of hard and soft. Masculine and feminine. I find that together they create an inviting atmosphere.
My space is entirely a reflection of me and the things that matter most to me. My shelves in the living room are filled with my Grandfather’s vintage camera collection (some still work even!). It’s cool to be surrounded with the camera’s that my Dad remembers his photo being taken with when he was a kid. My collection also includes the 35mm film camera my mom used when I was growing up. I’m awfully sentimental. Of belongings, books, photographs. I have piles of photographs in every room of my house and love looking through them time to time.
I’m particularly happy with the gallery shelving in the kitchen. I had been saving that wall for last and over the course of a year had tried a few different things on it. Once it was up, all I could think of was filling it up with tons of prints and photos, and it kind of fueled to me finally launch my company Pretty Techie. I switch them up on the regular and it makes me happy to feel like my pieces have been lived with before I package them off and ship them to customers.
I impulsively bought the “Ya Girl” marquee letters on Etsy right when I moved in. I was so drawn to the typeface (I still don’t know what it is and it drives me crazy!) so I bought the letters for the saying just to get a variety of vowels & consonants. I didn’t think I was actually going to keep that as the saying in the kitchen but it totally stuck and I can’t imagine it being anything else anymore.
I love the simplicity, character and charm of my place.
I could lay in that bed with the windows open on a Sunday alllllll day long (some days I do just that). It’s the best desk away from my desk! The perfect place to start off the mornings working before I head over to my favorite coffee place two blocks up the street.
