Ask Amy – What should I invest in?

What is the most important investment I should be making right now?

Honestly there is not a one size fits all answer here because it really depends on so many personal factors including what areas of your life are needing extra support, time and attention.

What your goals and priorities are?

If you’re feeling pressure or challenged within an area of your life, work or business?

Checking in with your own personal situation is the first step towards identifying where would be the best place to invest for you.

Ultimately I always recommend something that is a direct investment in YOURSELF! Often we are quick to be doing, giving and working for things and people all outside of ourselves and we are the last on the list.

What would it look like if you were to invest in yourself? How would that make you feel?

When looking at making an investment for yourself, I like to break it down to 3 main exchanges which include…

TIME: with anything that we do we are exchanging our time for it. It’s the one thing we cannot get back once it’s gone and no matter how hard we try we cannot create more of it – we all get the same hours in a day and days in a year. And honestly we don’t even know how many of those we are going to get.

ENERGY: while energy is something we can have more or less of at different stages or phases of our days, months or years, again it is still something that we exchange in the tasks we do, people we meet and on our inner self too.

FINANCIAL: Money is another currency used in our world that we exchange for many different things. Some things necessities like food and a roof over our head, others include things that make us feel good, further studies, travel, experiences, material possessions etc

It doesn’t always need to be all 3 and not always at one time. Remember you’ve got to be realistic about what is your own current situation and make a decision that is really going to serve you in the best way possible.

Having these 3 ways you can invest in yourself front of mind can help you to break down something that you want for yourself and make a plan to achieving it. For example asking yourself questions like how much time will it take? How much energy is going to go into this? How much is it going to cost me financially?

Each investment is always an exchange of some kind and every day, whether you realise it or not, you are investing in those 3 areas so why not take inventory on your current investments and see where you might like to reinvest or potentially make a new investment!

I’d love to know what or where you are going to invest in for yourself, please share away with us in the comments below.
